Congress will take place in campus of the Biology Centre AS CR in České Budějovice. Accommodation will be arranged in nearby student dormitories (2-5 minutes far from Biology Centre).

How to get around

Money exchange is possible at the airport. The exchange rate for Czech crowns (CZK) is available here.

The Biology Centre is conveniently located in the area with good access to the city centre. Trolleybus stops are nearby (trolleybus nmr. 3). Stop „Jihočeská univerzita“ is closer to Biology centre entrance and student dormitories K3 - K4, however stop „Vysokoškolské koleje“ is closer to student dormitories K1 – K2. The trolleybuses contain charts of the routes and are therefore easy to use; most of them display and pronounce the name of the next stop. Public transportation is comfortable and reliable but be aware of the pickpockets.

Arrival by plane

The nearest airport is Prague (160 km North, 2 hours driving, approx. 4 hours by public transportation); some European flights also arrive to Linz, Austria (100 km South, 2 hours by train). Another option is Vienna, Austria (210 km East).

From Prague airport to České Budějovice

Option 1 – preferably

We reccommend to travel from the airport by bus Airport Express (AE) or airport shuttle to main railway station and then use train to get to České Budějovice. First AE goes at 5:45 a.m. and last at 21:16.
Airport shuttle is available from 7 a.m. till midnight and is more expensive.

Upon your arrival to Prague airport (either Terminal 1 or Terminal 2) go to the terminal exit and find bus stop with the name „AE“ (bus Airport Express). Take this bus to its terminal station - "Hlavní nádraží". The bus is running every 30 minutes. No reservation is necessary. Buy your ticket (50 CZK) directly at a driver. Small surcharge will be requested if your luggage is of enormous size. Timetable is available here.

From Prague main railway station (Praha hlavní nádraží), you should find direct train connections to České Budějovice by using the IDOS system. The train journey takes about 2.5-3 hours. After arrival to České Budějovice, use public transport (information below) to reach the Biology Centre.

Option 2

At Prague airport, walk to the public bus stop outside the terminal and buy a ticket for 26 CZK from a yellow vending machine at the bus stop or in „information“ stall in the terminal hall. The ticket is sufficient for the journey from the airport to the train or bus terminal (which requires two transfers and takes about 45 minutes).You must validate the ticket immediately after entering the bus.

Take the bus No. 119 (leaves every 5-20 minutes) to the bus station "Dejvická". Transfer to subway line "A" (green); all trains go downtown. At the "Muzeum" station, transfer to line "C" (red), and go either one stop to the main railway station "Hlavní nádraží" or, for the bus terminal, continue to the station "Roztyly". You should find direct connections for either bus or train to České Budějovice by using the IDOS system. The bus or train journey takes about 2.5-3 hours. After arrival to České Budějovice, use public transport (information below) to reach the Biology Centre.

Arrival by bus or train

You can find a connection, for instance by using IDOS which is online transport schedule system (available in EN). Your destination is České Budějovice. Some trains arriving from Germany stop at the "Holešovice" station. To continue to České Budějovice, you must transfer via Subway (3 stops on "C" line) to the main railway station "Hlavní nádraží". The bus or train journey takes about 2.5-3 hours. After arrival to České Budějovice, use public transport (information below) to reach the Biology Centre.

Both at Prague and České Budějovice railway station, it is possible to use also EUR when buying ticket. However it is recommended to have Czech crowns with you because the Czech Republic is country with Czech Crowns. Euros are accepted for payments only at certain places and in some shops.

Arrival by car

If you drive from home or rent a car at the airport, you will be able to park for free at the conference site. We must warn against a reckless driving style in the country.

Public transportation in České Budějovice

From bus/railway station to the Biology Centre

The trolley-bus stop is opposite the train station (use underpass) in front of shopping centre „Mercury“ which serves also as bus terminal (at the roof). Take trolleybus number 3 directly to the campus, stop „Jihočeská Univerzita“ (takes 15 minutes). You will need a ticket for 12 CZK (valid for 20 minutes; available from yellow vending machines). You must validate the ticket immediately after entering the trolleybus. Time is counted from this marking, no other marking is needed.

Taxi from Prague airport

Taxi from České Budějovice railway station

Taxi is standing usually on the right side of the train station in Ceske Budejovice. See this webpage for rates. The distance from railway station to Biology centre is about 4-5 km.
